Hi, Melissa hear to talk to you about the ways your body talks to you!
Yes, our body talks to us, not in words, but in sending us feelings and messages, which we need to learn to interpret. Sometimes we misinterpret them, but as we get more in tune with our body and gain understanding of how interconnected we are, we get better at interpreting those messages. Is that real hunger or emotional hunger for instance? (If you want to know more about nourishing emotional hunger, read a past blog here.)
Our body also talks to us to let us know how happy it is with the food we’ve had on the end of our fork. If you feel gassy after eating, or bloated, or simply heavy in your gut, it is a sign that your body is struggling to digest whatever it is that you’ve eaten recently and it’s trying to let you know. If you pay attention, sometimes it’s very clear what food has triggered this, as you may notice it happens every time you eat that particular food, but in many cases, we haven’t been paying enough attention to these “signals” from our body, and we know how we feel later, but can’t quite narrow it down to a particular food within the meals. On the flip side, you may be confused, as sometimes you feel bloated after eating a certain food and yet other times you don’t – and this can be the result of how bogged down your digestive system is BEFORE you eat that food. If it’s doing well and you eat that food, there may be no signals coming back to you, but if it is already bogged down a little and you eat that food, then you will get those feelings of bloatedness and gas, signalling, please don’t feed me any more of that right now!
Antacids are among the most common over the counter medication sold in pharmacies today – an indication of just how many people struggle with digestive issues. Unfortunately though, they don’t actually help, they make things worse! You need the acid in your stomach to break down the food and adjust the ph level to between 2-3 before passing it along to the colon. If you take antacids, you reduce the amount of acid available in your stomach and so it takes much longer for the stomach to get the food to the right ph level, which means the food is in your stomach so long, that it starts to putrefy there….yuck! Instead, you should be looking at what else you can adjust to prevent the acid reflux / indigestion. Slow down while you eat, eat less, eat 3-4 hours before lying down…these are simple fixes, that can make a big difference for you, when you start listening to your body, and figuring out the connections between the messages and what you are doing in regards to eating.
What else can you do if you struggle with gas and bloated feelings, and an unhappy digestive system? The best place to start is with a complete digestive re-set. In as little as 14 days, you can complete a program, that has you feeling better, lighter, no gas or bloated feelings, AND alot of learning about what your body likes to digest or doesn’t like. During those 14 days you will remove all the stresses from your digestive system, through a guided program, offering recipes, meal plans, shopping list, and coaching, to keep you on track. You will start feeling better in as little as 5 days. We are all different, and just because the rest of your family can digest dairy or gluten, doesn’t necessarily mean you can. This program will help you sort out which foods your body likes and doesn’t like and be better able to manage how you feel after eating a meal – every time, for the rest of your life! No more uncomfortable feelings, no more worrying about gas, no more worrying about why you feel that way.
What should you do to start a digestive re-set cleanse? Book here for a complimentary consultation to learn about my 14 day digestive re-set program and how it can benefit you and your health. Please share this blog with anyone you know who is struggling with gut health issues. Left untreated, it can turn into chronic illnesses such as autoimmune diseases and leaky gut….and I’ll be back to talk more about that next week.
To your best health,
Melissa
